Festivals dominate Newcastle's calendar, many of them in Madadeni and Osizweni rather than town itself, from spring and summer music fests to a kota festival and the Amajuba Pride Festival. The Pines Bar and Majuba College Stadium in Madadeni are among the busiest venues, while Osizweni Communitty Hall and Dudsk B & B host kids' fun days and picnics. September and December are the peak months.
