Limpopo is South Africa's northernmost province, bordering Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique, and its landscape ranges from the mopane bushveld and giant baobabs of the Soutpansberg to the northern reaches of Kruger National Park. Mapungubwe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site near the Limpopo River confluence, preserves the remains of a gold-trading kingdom that flourished centuries before European contact and is the source of the famous gold rhino now held in Pretoria. The province is home to Venda, Tsonga, Pedi and Sotho communities, and its economy leans heavily on platinum and chrome mining from the Bushveld Igneous Complex around towns like Mokopane and Steelpoort, alongside citrus and subtropical fruit farming in the Tzaneen and Levubu valleys. Polokwane, the provincial capital, sits roughly midway between Johannesburg and the Zimbabwean border.
Across Limpopo, the Triumphant Entry Polokwane Crusade draws worshippers to the Ngoako Ramahlodi Sport Complex over the Women's Day weekend. Comedy is well represented too, with Big Banger Comedy presents Skhumba's Weekend Comedy Special at Meropa Casino Conference Centre and, a week later, Vafa Naraghi: Becoming South African 2026, Polokwane touring through the province. Culture and language take centre stage at ATKV Afrikiti Klein-Kariba, a festival weekend at the ATKV Klein-Kariba resort. Business travellers can round out the month with RETIRE: Design Your Next Chapter, a planning-focused event at Premier Hotel Thohoyandou.
