Potchefstroom's year peaks with Aardklop, the Afrikaans arts festival that fills the town in late September, spreading theatre, cabaret and concerts across festival venues such as the Konservatorium, The Roots Kapel and Girls High. Outside festival week, the NWU Sanlam Auditorium and NWU School of Music & Conservatory Hall host classical and Afrikaans music, and the NWC Oval stages cricket. Church concerts, family theatre and road races keep the rest of the calendar busy.
